What on earth is one supposed to do about a coat, when you live somewhere that ranges from pretty chilly to really fucking cold, go outside quite a lot, and will be god knows what strange assortment of sizes over the upcoming five-plus months of coat season? What if you're sort of scrawny to start with, with useless narrow shoulders that everything slopes off of? Confusing.
I suspect the answer will be: go around with old things flapping open, and suffer.
oh hey - i saw this necklace and thought of you,

Oh, pretty! And a clever idea, too. Those frog closures are really very ornamental.

If you're lucky, the extra bulk you'll be carrying around will also involve feeling extra warm -- you probably won't need as much of a coat as you usually would. And coats are usually fairly roomy things -- I'd bet this won't turn into an actual problem until the last month or two, at which point raiding Snark's closet will likely be helpful.

Go for the obvious solution: wear a cape or cloak.
