I've been terribly, horribly boring. Not unhappy, but useless. I was sick, I was un-sick, I graded papers, the baby crawled around and ate an uncountable quantity of tiny torn-up pieces of bread. We went to a sort of department sort of Christmas party, where an attractive Northern European woman with a school-aged daughter said: "Oh, you're brave, teaching with a baby at home. I remember when she was that age. I was tired all the time, and I never really knew why."
This, apparently, is what those tiny silica gel packets that come in your containers of crisp, dry things look like when they are overwhelmed by circumstance:
It was supposed to be guarding the textural integrity of some roasted seaweed, but it didn't go as planned. Maybe at the seaweed department party, someone will tell it why.
Apparently not!
